Logan Byers

Logan joined the KU glaciology group in 2012 as an undergraduate student; he stayed for his Master's degree starting in 2013. Logan's interests include geospatial data analysis, working with large datasets, satellite remote sensing, and numerical modeling. He has worked on the following projects:

  • Crevasse initiation in glazed surfaces of the East Antarctic Plateau
  • Thermal infrared timelapse of subglacial discharge, West Greenland
  • Terrestrial LiDAR Scanning of Helheim Glacier, East Greenland
  • Investigating iceberg trajectories and glacier motion with time-lapse imagery
  • Comparing Greenland ice velocity datasets using a new width-averaged approach
  • Building an interactive flowline model for perturbation analysis
